The season for Massachusetts grown fruits and vegetables is not over!  Plenty of seasonal vegetables along with cheese, baked goods and a variety of specialty food items are available that would be perfect for your holiday table.  Come see for yourself!

The Winter Market Opens Nov. 6th!

This fall and winter, shop the Winter Farmers Market indoors on Sundays beginning November 6th from 10:00am – 2:00pm at the VFW Hall, 108 Robbins Road (off Rt. 27; next door to the Johnson Middle School).  The Market will be held twice a month from November through April.

 

Today is the last outdoor Market Day…

Shop this afternoon for the last outdoor Market Day of the 2011 season! The Market is open from 2-6pm at the Town Common in Walpole Center! Don’t let a little rain stop you from shopping local!

Farmers Market Cancelled for October 19th

Due to the predicted heavy rains and winds expected for tomorrow, we are canceling the Farmers Market for Wednesday, October 19th.  Join us the following week for our last outdoor Market today.  See you then!

It’s Apple Time!

Have you heard the phrase, “An apple a day, keeps the doctor away!”

Come pick up the tastiest apples today at Lanni Orchards at the Farmers Market from 2:00 – 6:30pm.  Many varieties to choose from!

Did you know the following?

- It takes two pounds of apples to make one 9-inch pie.

- There are 2,500 varieties of apples grown in the United States; 7,500 varieties are grown throughout the world.

- Apples harvested from an average tree can fill 20 boxes that weigh 42 pounds each.

- Apples ripen six to ten times faster at room temperature than if they were refrigerated.

- It takes about 36 apples to create one gallon of apple cider.

Fall is here at the Farmers Market!

With fall’s chill rolling in, it’s time to warm up with hot and hearty meals. Think stews, soups, crock pot dishes…all of those comforting meals enjoyed during fall and winter. Get the freshest ingredients for those meals this week at the Farmers Market on Wednesday from 2:00 – 6:30pm. You can’t make fall and winter cuisine without wholesome potatoes, flavorful onions, rich garlic, and seasonal squash. Add plenty of our meats, veggies, herbs, and breads to those dishes and you’ve got hearty meals for the cold days.  So shop the Market this week!

With official start of fall and the summer growing season coming to an end, it is a good time to stock up on your favorite summer crops. Whether you pickle it, can it, freeze it, or just want to eat your favorite summer treat while you can, come visit the Walpole Farmers Market this Wednesday from 2:00 – 6:30pm on the Town Common.

Plenty of other items are also still available like meats, fish, pastas, cheese, baked goods, and more!
